How it all started...
Pastor John grew up in the Northern Neck of Virginia in the town of Montross and ministered at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg for 17 years. In 2012 at a Calvary Chapel pastors conference, contemplating his journey in life and ministry, he began sensing God stirring his heart to return to his native Northern Neck to take the Gospel of Christ with a fresh approach. At this conference, he journaled some dreams of reaching the people throughout the Northern Neck with the straightforward Gospel, genuine relationships, and real community. On a short-term mission trip to Haiti in 2016, after much prayer for clarity, God brought crispness for the first step in this journey by confirming the location. The first step was to be “where it all began†for John – King George, the gateway to the Northern Neck.
As John shared this with the leadership at Calvary Chapel Fredericksburg, they embraced the vision and banded together to send John and a group as a church plant. Several individuals from Calvary who had served together and intertwined hearts in ministry over the years served as the primary launch team for this new fellowship. Joining them were some folks from King George who had been praying for this plant for quite some time.

Expanding the vision...
The vision began with King George, but it goes further than that. We believe the Lord wants to use us to plant more churches further eastward into the Northern Neck. As God raises up more people to share this dream, we will watch it come true. Our desire is to see God’s Word taught as authority and trusted for practical daily guidance, to experience a community of genuine fellowship, to have a heart for those whose “religious hearts†need revival and for those who are lost without Christ and without the living hope that we have. King George matters to God, and it matters to us. There’s more to life than just surviving, and we are super excited to be a part of the King George community and to play a role to help the people THRIVE!
