Telling Your Story
Sunday, January 20, 2019
1.When telling my story, don’t focus on disagreements but seek COMMON GROUND.
(John 4:1-45; 1 Corinthians 9:22; Acts 17:16-34)
2.When telling my story, I must talk about JESUS (as He pretty much IS my story!)
(1 Peter 2:9; Acts 1:8, 4:20, 9:15; Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 8:39; John 4:28-29)
3.When telling my story, talk about what has CHANGED in my life.
(John 9:25; Luke 19:1-10; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 3:10; Romans 6:4; Acts 26:4-11; 1 Peter 3:15)
4.Be sensitive to how God will introduce OTHERS into my life to shape my story.
(Acts 9:26-27; Luke 5:17-20; 1 Samuel 23:16; John 1:40-42, 4:39)
5.Don’t try to change God’s MIND when He calls me to a certain audience!
(Exodus 4:1-17; the book of Jonah; Acts 7:51)
6.God will make a way for me to CONTINUE telling my story – for His glory.
Taking it further to help you THRIVE…
1.Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
2.What are some practical (non-cheesy) ways to establish common ground with someone?
3.What Jesus speaks to your heart is part of your story! What has He spoken / revealed to you recently that you’d really like others to know?
4.What one person has made a big impact in your life spiritually? How?
5.How does knowing what we believe and telling our story go hand in hand?
6.Read Romans 9:1-3. How do these verses address the motivation behind why we tell our story and give a defense before others?
