Come Back…Remembering To Give Thanks
Sunday, November 18, 2018
1.Give thanks that Jesus COMES to me wherever I am.
(Isaiah 62:12; 1 John 4:19; Romans 5:8; Luke 19:10; Matthew 18:12)
2.Give thanks that Jesus TOUCHES me when no one else will (or can) (or wants to).
(Matthew 8:1-3, 9:25; Mark 7:32-35; Luke 5:12-13, 13:11-13)
3.Give thanks that Jesus SEES me, HEARS my cry, and HEALS my ‘condition’.
(Leviticus 14:2-32; Exodus 3:7; Mark 6:48)
When I come back to give thanks…
1.FOCUS on what God has done.
(2 Kings 6:17; Ephesians 1:18; 1 John 1:3; Psalm 126:3)
2.MAKE the time to go back.
(Hebrews 10:26; Matthew 6:24, 33; Deuteronomy 6:5; Luke 10:38-42, 12:34)
3.Be ‘LOUD’ about it!
(Romans 12:11; Colossians 3:23; 1 Chronicles 16:23-31; John 4:24; Isaiah 29:13; Psalm 103:2-3)
4.Assume a posture of honest, humble GRATITUDE.
(Exodus 15:11; Ecclesiastes 5:2)
5.Be prepared for something GREATER!
(Ephesians 3:20-21; Matthew 11:28-29; 1 Peter 2:24)
Taking it further to help you THRIVE…
1.Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
2.Concerning today’s passage, Charles Spurgeon wrote: “All ten were willing to do a religious ceremony…Only one was filled with true praise and thanksgiving.” What did he mean by this, and how might the same sometimes be true with us?
3. What prevents us from more regularly and enthusiastically recognizing God’s blessings in our lives? Is there anything we can do about this?
4. Make a list of what you are thankful for. Spend some time thanking God and telling Him why these blessings are special to you.
